Changing my working project Moonville from Unity to Godot

Hi there, it’s your undercover gremlin showing up on the surface of the earth again. I’ve been working a lt after my day job to update the game and complete it enough for a demo build.

However as I was working on different features, like the save system and inventory UI i realised there was many issues with the current build, so when the news of Unity’s agenda last year hit us developer, I choose to test out godot for the first time and I love it.

Here’s everything I’ve managed to setup inside Godot already:

  • Inventory system and UI

  • Crafting Table with Crafting recipes, such as seeds, tools and more

  • Equipped Tool Animations

  • Equipable Player items

  • Geodes, and mining

  • Pick up items and drop them out of inventory

  • Animated tileset and enviroment

Due to Godot being a node based programming structure it works a lot faster for my chaotic brain to make something with it, and Godots drag and drop and loading of scenes as different components on objects really works well for my own imagination. Maybe I will write a cool little written tutorial one of these days of how i set up Objects in Godot. I work a lot better with written tutorials myself than video ones, so i might start that as some of the blog posts here ^^

Anyway, my eight year old nephew has made it clear that i need to prioritize the mines and exploration, so a lot of art and minegeneration will be posted here soon as I work through the tasks!

See you guys next time i see the sunlight, and bless your little cotton socks!
